Principal Cloud Architect

Job description

As one of the world leaders in the cybersecurity space, OpenVPN is looking for a Principal Cloud Architect. Our ideal candidate will design and implement scalable infrastructure for our software services as well as create and manage the documentation around production architecture and releases. The Cloud Architect, in addition to being the subject matter expert, will coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including ops, developers, and the product team as a whole, to implement the infrastructure for the entire company.

- Produce thorough documentation of current and future infrastructure from network layout to application layout

- Design and develop implementation plans and roadmaps of existing infrastructure and planned infrastructure, improving upon flaws and deficiencies and focusing on future scalability

- Provide technical guidance to other team members for design, implementation, and support of cloud technologies

- Enforce infrastructure architecture execution as well as ongoing refinement tasks

- Improve on and design new effective DR and backup strategies

- Migration and release planning of company applications and technologies

- Act as a subject matter expert in the organization on cloud, automation, SaaS

- Heavy focus on DevOps development activities in Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, MongoDB

- Review product work from other team members for deployment approval and provide feedback.

- Work with the Head of Security to secure infrastructure and application architectures

Job requirements

- 10+ years of experience in developing high volume SaaS based solutions in the DevOps role or similar

- 5+ years of experience in an AWS DevOps capacity

- Experience as an Architect with a proven track record of designing large scale system

- Deep experience working with the following AWS technologies: EC2, Route53, MSK, EKS, Lambda and other components of AWS

- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Helm

- Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB)

- Expert knowledge of microservices technologies and related architectures

- Experience working with configuration management tools such as Puppet and Ansible

- Experience working with infrastructure as code and Terraform
- Great communication skills in the international environment

Bonus Skills:

- Experience in the information security field

- Knowledge of networking (protocols, routing, security)

- Experience in Big Data
