Job description

We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead the infrastructure strategy and automation behind our Enterprise VPN and Zero Trust networking platform. This role is essential to ensuring product services and customer-deployed gateways are secure, scalable, and always-on.

You’ll own our infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, system observability, and secure deployment practices across public-hosted and customer-deployed environments.

As a key member of the founding team, you’ll shape our technical strategy, engineering practices, and system resilience. Your decisions will influence both product direction and company growth.

Job requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker;

  • Operate and optimize Linux-based environments running gateways and services

  • Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) for backend and desktop applications

  • Automate deployment, monitoring, and security hardening of VPN infrastructure

  • Manage secrets, TLS certificates, firewall rules, and secure service configurations

  • Define and enforce observability practices (dashboards, alerts, metrics, disaster recovery)

  • Contribute to incident response and live site operations, including root cause analysis and remediation

  • Support internal dev environments, onboarding flows, and infrastructure for developer productivity

  • Collaborate with engineers to integrate DevSecOps principles into build and deployment workflows

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering roles

  • Deep knowledge of Linux/Unix systems administration

  • Strong experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud providers (AWS required; GCP or Azure a plus)

  • Experience deploying and managing high-availability, distributed, and multi-tenant systems

  • Familiarity with CI/CD best practices, Git-based workflows, and build/release automation

  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VPNs, routing, firewalls, DNS, TLS, etc)

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.)

  • Understanding of the full software lifecycle: standards, version control, testing, release, and operations

  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Bash, or Go)

  • Exposure to AI Ops tools and techniques (log correlation, anomaly detection, predictive scaling)

Optional, but Good to Have:

  • Experience with WireGuard, OpenVPN, or other network tunneling/security tools

  • Familiarity with Cloudflare (i.e. DNS, WAF, Zero Trust configuration)

  • Exposure to DevSecOps practices, including secrets management, policy-as-code, and vulnerability scanning

  • Experience deploying or managing SQL and NoSQL systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, Redis, DynamoDB)

  • Familiarity with observability tooling: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry

  • Experience with security event logging, anomaly detection, or compliance logging

  • Experience with platforms like Datadog APM, New Relic, Splunk, or custom ML-based monitoring

  • Experience mentoring or leading junior engineers or cross-functional infrastructure efforts

  • Knowledge of enterprise deployment models, network segmentation, and policy-based access control

  • Experience in cybersecurity and/or startups

Our philosophy is that we are a small, close-knit team, and we care deeply about you:

  • Competitive pay rates

  • Fully remote work environments

  • Self-managed time off
