This position involves:

  • Working closely with Product and Development teams to build, deploy OpenVPN services across different environments and regions
  • Collaborating with diverse DevOps teams working in different time zones
  • Participating in infrastructure projects that involves cross-team collaboration
  • Leading infrastructure migration/improvement initiatives
  • Mentoring other non-senior members of the DevOps team
  • Being on-call to support production workloads of services hosted in AWS and other DC providers
  • Acting as a technical escalation point for any production and non-production environment incidents

The candidate will:

  • Perform cloud and bare-metal infrastructure buildout
  • Help troubleshoot outage or performance related incidents
  • Assist with workload migrations to Kubernetes
  • Automate processes with configuration management tools
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline initiatives
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new technologies that are relevant to improving OpenVPN infrastructure
  • Work with monitoring tools to setup or improve services monitoring and alerts
  • Perform infrastructure security evaluations and improvements to ensure security standards are met
  • Repair failing components as needed -- be available when needed
  • Support, maintain, improve systems documentation, policies and procedures

  • Is not afraid of large horizontally scaled databases and SQL
  • Understands the need for requirements, planning, and coordination with others
  • Understands the risks and care needed for large real-time infrastructure

Job requirements


  • 5+ years of experience in a DevOps role
  • Extensive experience in Linux server operating systems
  • Strong experience in AWS services
  • Working knowledge of technologies such as docker, Kubernetes, helm, AWS ECS and EKS
  • Strong operational experience with scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, Python
  • Experience in configuration management tools such as Puppet and Ansible
  • Experience in infrastructure as code such as Terraform
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
  • Strong networking and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


  • Experience with large DevOps teams
  • Experience working with teams distributed across the world
  • Experience working with people with ESL
  • Experience with key/value stores such as Consul, Vault
  • Experience in Kubernetes auto-scaling
  • Familiarity with Identity/Auth solutions such as Free IPA
  • Experience in PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases


  • Experience with horizontally scaled databases (CitusData, TimescaleDB)
  • A willingness to listen first
